FLORENCE WELCH'S GUILTY WORDS

Florence and the Machine star Florence Welch says she often feels guilty that she just chooses her lyrics at random.

Florence Welch feels guilty about her lyrics.

The Florence and the Machine star - whose track 'Dog Days Are Over' consists of phrases chosen at random from an art installation - says she sometimes wishes there was more of a story to the lyrics she writes.

She said: "'Dog Days Are Over' means nothing. Sometimes I feel guilty about how flippantly I choose lyrics. If I like a phrase I just put it in. And then it means something to people."

Florence also revealed she had a panic attack when she learned she was going to be honoured with the Critic's Choice Award at this year's BRIT Awards.

She explained: "I'd done nothing and I was getting an award for it. Even on the day of the awards the only way I felt I could stand up there and receive it was to thank the people who had helped get my music out and put it on the radio."

Flo eyes ash hit after tour bus blaze

TRUST FLORENCE WELCH to find a use for her band's instruments after they went up in flames.
Her group FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE were driving in Germany when the trailer behind their tour bus, holding their instruments, was destroyed. The bus and the band escaped and the tour is going on with new instruments - while Flo works on a new idea.

She says: "You could hear the harp's strings ping in the fire. Strange sound. We recorded it and I want to use it in a song."

"It's funny because the last time I was here we played in the same venue supporting MGMT, but we were a three piece in my dad's campervan, parked in an abandoned lot, next to some graffiti that said MOTHERF**KIN' ALCHOHOL. Good memories."

Florence & The Machine’s Gear Destroyed in Fire

Florence & The Machine lost all their equipment when their trailer went on fire some time before their Copenhagen gig tonight. Details are patchy but they took to the stage in the Danish capital announcing the incident and saying that everything they were playing on was borrowed. As there wasn’t a any merchandise available it is likely that everything they had on tour was lost. To their credit they turned the concert into a celebration that no-one was injured and put on a spirited show despite the downer. Read the full review on state.ie shortly.
It looks like the fire happened on the way to Denmark from Norway on Saturday night-Sunday morning and it seems the rest of the tour will go ahead as planned with the rented gear.
